Sample Proposal: Expand Neighborhood Composting
The Idea We need to significantly increase the amount of composting currently happening in our community.
The Benefits: Diverting organic waste reduces the sheer volume of trash and garbage ending up in landfills. Additionally, the compost we generate can be utilized as a rich, organic soil fertilizer, which many cities use to maintain landscaping and green spaces.
How It Works: Participation is straightforward. You can place produce, cooked meat, dairy, coffee grounds, plant trimmings, and food-soiled paper products, such as pizza boxes, directly into the green bin, which often sits underutilized and empty.
Who Is Involved: All of us who live here in La Palme share the responsibility and the benefits of keeping our waste management practices sustainable.
Sample Concern: Trash Enclosure Organization
The Issue: When visiting the trash enclosure, the blue recycling bins closest to the gate are routinely full or overflowing, even though the bins just a few feet farther back remain completely empty.
Proposed Solution: Let’s make it a habit to start by filling the bins at the back of the trash enclosure. This small adjustment will maximize our existing space and keep the area accessible and tidy for everyone.
